Nigerian bomb suspect, along with family members, fully cooperate with FBI

According to the BBC Hour on NPR News yesterday, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab has been extremely helpful in providing intelligence to the FBI once in custody. U.S. authorities flew to Nigeria in order to accept help from Abdulmutallab's family and even brought a few members to America to speak with the young Umar. Abdulmutallab's family is documented as trying to share their concerns about Umar to U.S. officials, 5 weeks before the terrorist attempt on the NWA Detroit flight. The family contacted the United States Embassy in Nigeria and another sector of government, alerting them to their son's potential extremist brainwashing. The Abdulmutallab's helpful involvement has led to 10 separate arrests of alleged members of a terrorist group in Malaysia. Exact details regarding their relation to Abdulmutallab have not been revealed to the public. These recent incidents "could prove to be a national security victory and a political vindication for President Barack Obama" wrote Matt Apuzzo and Pete Yost, two Associated Press writers in theFebruary 2nd article on the matter. Victory for America or not, it is undeniable that this prominent Muslim family has demonstrated exemplary behavior since their son's arrest. They have condemned terrorism, they have cooperated with U.S. authorities, and they tried to prevent this whole thing from happening in the first place. It is obvious to see that the vast majority of Muslims are against acts of terrorism and understand that Islamic scripture and teachings are not compatible with such acts. Muslims every where, including this online news channel, are speaking out. The question is, are you listening?
