Youngster Harris J is the winner of the 2013 worldwide Awakening Records online star search contest. Flash forward to 2016 and Harris has over 27 million YouTube views on what has become his signature song for Muslims and non-Muslims in the west called, "Salam Alaikum".
The 14-year-old star hails from the UK and is of Irish and Indian heritage. While most of Harris' songs are in English a few of them feature lyrics in Urdu and Arabic. His debut album is entitled "Salam" which means, Peace in the Arabic language. The "Salam" album in entirety has been streamed over 2.7 million times on YouTube since its release in September.
When looking at the side swept hair, boyish grin, and urban attire of Harris J, it's easy to draw comparisons to pop sensation Justin Bieber. Facebook users have referred to, and hashtagged, Harris as the Islamic Bieber since his song lyrics are wholesome and often carry a moral message. For example, the lyrics below are from the track "Salam Alaikum",
