Ann Arborites are known for their open mindedness and sense of humor. In an effort to increase the number of clean jokes that are accessible to the Muslim community, we have compiled a list of jokes and funny stories that all can enjoy on this Examiner page.
Unfortunately, the sources for many of the jokes in this series are unknown. If the reader can offer more information about a joke which is featured (an alternative telling, names of the characters, origin or culture, etc.) please let us know in the comment section below.
THE JOKE:
A Kurdish man invited his friend over for dinner one night. During the process of putting the food out, his guest clandestinely took a small bite from off a plate, and burned his mouth from the heat.
Not wanting his friend to realize what he had done, but needing to cool the burning, he looks up, opening his mouth wide while saying, 'What does it take to build a ceiling like this?"
His friend, knowingly answers, "Patience and two blows."
THE MORAL:
Don't worry, I didn't get the joke at first either, and had to have a Kurdish person explain it to me. And the local reader is in luck! There are two Kurdish owned stores in Ann Arbor: Zizi's Fruit Market on Packard Road and Sunshine Market off of Platt, also on Packard.
Get to know our Kurdish brothers and sisters and uncover the secret to this joke by talking to them about it. That is, only if you don't understand it already. :-)
