Halal Joke Series: The problem with thwarting terrorism

Ann Arborites are known for their open mindedness and sense of humor. In an effort to increase the number of clean jokes that are accessible to the Muslim community, we have compiled a list of jokes and funny stories that all can enjoy on this Examiner page.
Unfortunately, the sources for many of the jokes in this series are unknown. If the reader can offer more information about a joke which is featured (an alternative telling, names of the characters, origin or culture, etc.) please let us know in the comment section below.
THE JOKE:
According to BBC News, the father of the Nigerian who attempted to blow up the Delta airliner whilst approaching Detroit had emailed US authorities to warn them about his son's extreme anti-American views. This man happened to be a very wealthy banker.
You can imagine the email arriving at the US Government's offices:  "Good afternoon Sir, I am a wealthy Nigerian banker...."
THE MORAL:
By now it's common knowledge that the 'Christmas Bomber' could have been apprehended and stopped weeks if not hours before he boarded that Northwest Airline flight to Detroit.  It is widely accepted that US officials and the government kind of dropped the ball on this one, for one reason or another.
What we can take from this joke is mostly that if we are in a position of authority we have a responsibility to take things seriously.  We have to contemplate every piece of information that we are given and weigh it individually.
With power comes responsibility.  Use it wisely and fairly, and you may survive another day with it.
