The first trailer for a trilogy of films about the life of Prophet Muhammad was released today at the Montreal Film Festival. Muhammad: Messenger of God movie trailer is just over two and a half minutes long and now available on YouTube.
The film, which focuses on the themes and incident surrounding the 105th chapter of the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Fil, was directed by Majid Majidi and produced in the Islamic Republic of Iran. At $40 million dollars, the film budget was the most expensive ever in the history of Iranian cinema. Majidi hopes that further films would help improve understanding of Islamaround the world.
Since images, still or otherwise, of The Prophet of Muhammad (PBUH) are forbidden in Islam, the movie will use third person cinematography to show his scope of vision when necessary and a variety of other clever filming tricks to tell the story (for example at 1:11 in the trailer, idols in the Kaaba are seen being destroyed by an unseen person who is likely to be the Islamic prophet), just as previous movies have done.
The Muslim Vibe movie synopsis is as follows,
By the order of Abraha, King of Habasha, one of his army commanders launches an attack on Mecca in order to destroy the Kaaba. He leads a well-equipped force comprised of thousands of soldiers, horses and elephants. As the army approaches Mecca, the elephants respond to divine order by halting and refusing to continue. Millions of small birds then release a hail of stones onto Abraha’s forces and the army is annihilated. A month later, Muhammad is born. This film depicts the pagan age with all its tyranny and oppression as seen through the eyes of Muhammad from birth to the age of 13.
