Sister Fareeda shares with inquiring minds what incidents and mundane occurrences Muslims may internally rejoice at in her piece entitled 10 Things Muslims Secretly Celebrate.
Beginning with the recent arrests of religious militia members in at least three states, Sister Fareeda admits that she personally celebrated that the culprits were non-Muslim. Because, it's "basically like getting a night off" she muses.
What else are Muslims secretly celebrating amidst this negative political and religious frenzy that Western media has dragged the average Muslim American into (not to skim blame off of misguided fanatics out there)?
Well, what about when a Bin Laden family member, namely Omar Bin Laden, "publicly defects from Al-Qaeda"? Absolutely! All Muslims were celebrating upon hearing this news and they were elated when Omar stated he wanted to work with the UN in carrying out peace operations.

It is important to note that while Muslims are internally rejoicing for their reasons, you better believe that Islamophobes, and those who don't know better, are celebrating 'victories'against Islam (whether contrived or not) as well. It would be useful to contemplate how exactly American Muslims can improve the negative view that some non-Muslims have of Islam and Muslims, and then take action. Our efforts will be heard, by those who are willing to listen, of course.
