Everyday hijab style blog 'owes debt to The Sartorialist'

Once in the past we featured an entry from the tremendously popular blog, The Sartorialist.  Back in December the stylish, street fashion blog posted a photograph of a beautiful hijabi woman which caused quite a slew of ignorant and hurtful comments from hundreds of people.
Unnamed sister in photo titled "Heading Out: Kuala Lumpur". I <3 her shoes, her vest, her buttons...

Can you believe it? People still don't get hijab.  Are they even trying?
Surely this sad fact is at least one reason why Hijabs High, the blog, was established.  Like The Sartorialist , Hijabs High posts images of individuals on the street, fashionably going about their daily lives.  So far they have yet to post as frequently and consistently as other successful fashion blogs -- but it's certainly a start.
As for the name, 'Hijabs High', it was chosen to symbolize a woman's confidence and pride that she feels when wearing the hijab.  The blog creators declare to visitors, "Hold your hijabs high!".  My choice. My right. My life.
So if the reader is a hijabi and has piqued interest in the Hijabs High initiative, why not represent the city of Ann Arbor by contributing a photo?  To get in touch with Hijabs High staff or find out information on how to be involved, please contact: hijabshigh@googlemail.com
In the meantime, check out some of the wonderful photographs of Muslim women who are happy and stylish and not afraid to "Hold Their Hijabs High".
