Examine this, examine that: A Muslim girl's story

Asalaamu Alaykum/Peace Be Upon You, Readers!
Usually I refrain from writing in the first person on this news channel but since the end of April marks a special anniversary, I decided to use 'I' as much as I like in this entry.
About a year ago I was hired to be the Detroit Muslim Examiner by Examiner.com. The site was barely 16 months old and there seemed to be only one other active Muslim writer on the site.
I was excited to begin writing; here at fingertips reach was an opportunity to offer dawah, meet new people, and write about a topic I am passionate about!  Quickly I learned lessons about interacting with noters and writing more efficiently.  Soon, I was able to change my title from the Detroit Muslim Examiner to the Ann Arbor Islamic Issues Examiner; that way I was able to focus in on the city that I went to school in and spend most of my time. Go Blue!
In the one year that I have been a citizen journalist (Examiner's term, not mine) I have tried hard to write articles that are accurate, necessary, and that my readers would benefit from.  In this time frame, I have seen the fruition of my effort in the form of being recruited to write for Halal.com, maintaining a high rank for 5 consecutive months in Ann Arbor Examiner analytics, and having over 2500 fans on Facebook
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and attention. I appreciate your feedback and smiley emoticons that are often left.  And, hey, if you aren't a subscriber yet, please become one by visiting the Ann Arbor Islamic Issues homepage and clicking the 'subscribe' button. That way you'll receive my article alerts directly in your inbox and it makes me look good to my supervisors. ;-)
I would very much like to make a living one day soon off of writing.  This is a halal, practical, and useful job to have, and, quite importantly, I love to do it!
If you'd like me to cover a subject or story in the future, just leave a note here or shoot me an email on the Facebook fanpage, inshaAllah.
You are appreciated!
